Update: November 2023
2023 11 17
Hi everyone –
There’s another chapter in my “neverending story”, and it’s a joyful one: I had my regular three-monthly CT scan yesterday and my consultation with Garth the mensch oncologist today, and the news is all good!
- “Response to treatment with further decrease …” (quoting the scan report).
- All nodes, whether associated with the older breast cancer or the more recent lymphoma, have decreased in size, by anything from 2% to 14%.
- “Complete resolution of the smaller splenic lesions. Decrease in the size of the spleen…”
- My bones are stable, including – now – the hip where I had the recent radiation.
- No new metastases or pathology.
Of course, the report writers don’t know how many parts my treatment actually consists of! (I think we need to bottle the whole package and start giving out samples.) Of course there’s the chemo, medication and radiation; then there’s the phenomenal care from all the medical staff; then there’s the love and support from all of you; and then the icing on the top, a rip-roaring party (and other parties in parallel) with much love, music and dancing! Garth said, on hearing about the party, that the above news was indeed deserving of a party.
We have to keep up the three-monthly monitoring (and what a privilege that I have access to this). The next one – in February – will be a PET scan, as this will also tell us whether there is activity in any nodules. At that time, I’ll see both Garth and Danie.
Between now and then, all going well, I’ll continue to dance, to work (including a small amount back on DM168), to live life as fully as I can, and to send my prayers for love and healing as far as they can possibly go … this crazy world of ours needs that!
Lots of love to all of you 🌹❤️
